Phuket

Kategori: In English

So now me and Bob has arrived in Phuket, Patong beach. I'm right now sitting in a internet cafe since the internet in our hotel is too expensive. It is incredebly nice with pool, really spacious room but most important of all, we do now have AIR CONDITION! I didnt know i was so dependant for AC but after a day in the sun and when not even a cold shower can cool down the skin, then its nice to freeze a little bit ;)

We havent seen the beach of Patong yet but it seems night in the night so should be quite good during the day as well... but i have realized that the thing with Thailand is not that you are supposed to stay on the beach, you have to go to islands to fully understand how beautiful this country really can be. So we are already planning a trip either to go snorkeling or making a no-previous-dive-experience-dive (but dont tell my mom!). We'll see what happens, tomorrow we will probably onlt take it slow at our lovely resort pool, see you in the water!

Phi Phi island

Chicken Island

Kategori: In English

Today I and Bob took a so called longtail boat out to the islands of Krabi. We went to Chicken Island, this island was not so nice itself but it was possible to walk to another island next to it that looked perfect! So we took our belongings on our head and started walking through the water to the next island. It was a very small one but it was really heavenly! The sand was perfectly white and the water was green and clear.

The first thing we went to do on the little paradise island was to test our newly bought snorkeling masks and the water proof bag for our cameras. I was surprised of how many colorful fishes there were in the water even though there were no corals. I thought they only liked to live in reefs but here it was only small rocks and sand. It was difficult to take pictures because it’s hard to focus and hold the camera still under water so this is the best ones we took.

After we went up to lie a little in the sun and enjoyed our little paradise. After a while we realized that the tide here in Thailand is pretty heavy and suddenly we were not able to walk back to Chicken Island! The sand bank that we walk on before was simply under 2 meters of water and our little paradise island was sinking! Oh my, we could have panicked but Bob is always so cool and calmed me down so we stayed on our shrinking beach for some more hours ;)

Of course we found a boat to our rescue and we got safely back home to our little hotel again. What is the worst thing with this trip to little paradise is that we are now totally burned! I can’t believe that I after 2 weeks in the sun in the Philippines never got burned at all but the second day on the beach here in Thailand and I’m just as red as the rest of the charter traveling Swedes here, damn it! How unprofessional of me indeed… Tomorrow we are going to Phi Phi Island, it will be shirt on for me and face full of sunscreen! Hope the snorkeling will be good, it’s supposed to be one of the ten best places in the world for snorkeling. I must admit though that I’m quite picky with good snorkeling after what I saw on Busuanga in the Philippines…

Come on Thailand show me what you got!

Crazy for shopping

Kategori: In English

I just can’t help it, when there is so much cheap stuff around me I just have to buy something. This picture is taken after one day of shopping in Kuala Lumpur. We went to the mall in the Petronas twin towers and went to Zara (my obsession) and I found this shirt. Or well, Bob saw it first and wanted to buy one for her but since it’s man-size I was the one to end up with it. I love it, perfect for the cold days in Sweden! Weird though that they had so much winter clothes in KL since it never gets colder than 20 degrees… I also found the watch that I had been looking for so long, one with white steel. Sunglasses were also something that I was looking for since I sat on my old ones in Boracay… These are really bright blue but they look white. White is the new stuff I guess in my wardrobe (only because it goes so well with my new burned skin ;P)

Krabi

Kategori: In English

So here we are now, the time is just now 10 to 10 in the morning and me and Bob are sitting outside enjoying our breakfast buffet in the sun outside our room. Life is good!

I love breakfast buffet's and they are way too uncommon here in asia so that is why i was so surprised when they told us that the breakfast was included in the room. Free breakfast is not good for me though because i always eat too much! I will have to lie on the beach now and "burn" some calories instead, hehe (the only thing that will be burned here is skin! ;) )

When we arrived yesterday we were a little disapointed, but this was also expected. The beach here is nice in comparison with swedish beaches but in comparison with what we saw in Philippines then this is nothing. The beach is made of shells so the sand is quite dark and the water is a bit "muddy" and not so clear. Today we will stay on the beach and do some swimming and just the feeling of Ao Nang beach.

Oh Boracay, you are one in a lifetime!

Men allt hade ju ändå ett lyckligt slut, Krabi here we come!

On the road again

Kategori: In English

So now we have our plan of where to go traveling for the next weeks. We decided that it would simply be too much work to go to Langkawi since we dont know how to get from there to Phuket and thailand without flying back to Kuala Lumpur. So we take the safe way and are just staying on the beaches on Thailand.

We fly now to Krabi from Kuala Lumpur and will stay there for a few days (its apparently the best beaches in whole thailand there...) from Krabi we will go to some islands and then we will move our stuff to Phuket to stay there for some days since we have our flight to Bangkok booked from there. So we also stay in Bangkok for some days in the very end to party out with Philippe and visit the culture areas of the city.

Theplan is good its just that there is still not so much booked and we dont know have to go from places.. hehe, but this is asia, anything can happen ;)

Singapura in pictures

Kategori: In English

Sorry i have not been able to upload any pictures from me and Bob's little Singapore trip. Here are the best ones so enjoy!

Everything the tourist need, city map and a cookie as breakfast. Me and Bob decided that we had gained too much weight in Taiwan so we skipped breakfast. Instead we ate some cookies (not so clever plan there no...)

I love the fact that the city is built for business, the british founded the city in the 18 hundreds on an island in the middle of nowhere. The skyscrapers are growing along with the rain forrest. The contrast fascinating!

This is my chinese signs protector and god. (i'm rabbit)

Singapore is a melting pot of people from different cultures. This is the most famous Hinduism temple, isnt it beautiful? (it was totally covered for construction, i just hate that this happens wn ou go to see some nice stufon vacation, its not exactly that you have time to go back soon again...)

The landmark of Singapore, the Merlion! (pronounced as Mer and then Lion, since it's a lion that comes from the sea. Me and Bob didnt figure that out until my singaporian friend Veronica pointed that out for us ;P )

Bombardment on Malaysia!

Last night we went to take a Singapore Sling (loads of cherry flavour) and we also went up in Swissotel and found this amazing view!

To conclude this three day trip to the little island and country named Singapore,
AMAZING! Second best town in Asia after Hong Kong i would say but Singapore is more business in a kind of way, i could definetely come back to work here one day

Good bye lovely

Kategori: In English

and so we are leaving this wonderful city but i definetely think that i will come back one day, when i have loads of money! I have also been thinking about coming back here for work. This whole environment just encourages work and proffessionalism and i like it!

Well, the travel continues, first back to Kuala Lumpur to reaload our luggage and buy some more stuff that is needed on the beach. I sat on my favourite sunglasses in Boracay so now i have to buy new ones. Well i still have my Rayban's but i need to alternate between stuff of course! ;) Apparently there is a chinatown in KL as well where there is a fake market (as there is in like every city in asia!). I love fake markets, not just becuase you can find loads of nice fake stuff there but also because there you can bargain!!

Before i came to asia i was a bit afraid to even ask for a price. It was so much easier to buy stuff when it had a price tag on it. Now i have turned into quite the opposite, I just love bargaining for stuff! Especially when i can do it in chinese ;) It will be hard to go back to sweden and you cant demand a different price than what's on the tag... Maybe you will find me in the flea markets every weekend instead!

I actually bargained for this hotel room, but that was easy since the toilet is full of mould!!

Now we are off to meet my dearest Singaporian Veronica for lunch and then we will catch a luxury bus to KL. No idea where we will find it though but i hope that the people will be more civilized here than they were in KL, ouff

oh crap indeed i just say!

Asia is really not for a european persons wieght. All exchanges that went to tawain gain weight, i dont really now why... or well, maybe its because of the non existing exercise, the fried food or the fact that it is easier to take the scooter anywhere you want to go. It is really incredible how little i have moved for the last four months. Usually i walk to school, walk to the supermarket, walk walk walk but now i have always taken the scooter everywhere or just not walked out of the apartment :P

The craziest thing is that i havent gone close to a kitchen for the whole semester! Before i always cooked my own food all the time and made breakfast but now i have always bought something. It is simply cheaper to buy already made food from someone else than buying it yourself! Oh my i will miss it so much, but i do also miss cooking a little bit because then you know what you have on the plate.

When i come back to sweden gym and the salad bar is the place i will be!

Singapore

So now i have finally left Kaohsiung and is off for a long journey around the equatorial line in on the Malacca peninsula. It was really hard to sit alone in the plane and i have to admit that i fell a tear or two somewhere over the sea between Taiwan and Philippines. Tonight the people in Kaohsiung are having thier last night at the night club Lamp, to them i just say Party on people!

I have so much to tell you about my latest travel to the Philippines and i have almost 500 photos from Boracay, Manila and Busuanga but right now to catch up i will continue to write about my experiences right now... Its so much that happens all the time so i just dont know where to start :P

So this is how it is right now:

I think im back in my normal happy status since i met Bob again. She has already spent 2 weeks in Kuala Lumpur when i came to her rescue. This morning we were supposed to go up early to catch a bus to Singapore. After a really short mumbeling discussion around 7 in the morning between me and Bob we decided to keep on sleeping for some more hours. It's always so easy to make decision early in the morning :P

We later took a bus to Singapore. My god the people in these hot countries can be so pushy and it is hard to know when they are really trying to help you and when they just want your money... Annoying. After some moments of feeling totally lost we found our bus. A luxury one with giant seats and own TV :) A six hour ride awaited us through the jungle of Malaysia and suddenly there was a bridge and the city was on the other side! Soo cool, Singapore is an island with the only way there is over this bridge, ALCATRAZ! no but nice anyway.. We are now checked in our little hostel in a pretty ok neighbour, all of Singapore seems actually really nice. Will be investigated further tomorrow!

Now i have to work on a paper that i still havent finished, it is due tomorrow so what can i say.. im in deep shit :P

Bai Bai Kaohsiung!

Kategori: In English

Dear blog,
sorry for not writing in such a long time, this is really devastating! First i was out of internet in one week, then i left for Philippines for 2 weeks and now when i came back i have been so busy with all the leaving procedures to leave the university. Not to forget all the school work that i have to finish (and that i still havent finished, doh!)

Well well, wanna know something that is even more devastating? Im leaving Kaohsiung and thereby also Taiwan

...tomorrow!

I seriously cant believe that time has gone this fast, it feels like whole this period in Taiwan has just past by me in a second and i cant even remember what i have been doing all the time... It is still so much stuff that i feel i havent done here in Kaohsiung and now i dont know if i will ever come back here again. All my taiwanese friends that i met on my last exchange semester in Austria that i was so lucky to meet here again, but now there is a low chance that i will be able to come and see them again! Not also to forget all my new Taiwanese friends and other exchangestudents from Asia that will be too far away for me to see in the very future.

I am now of to my own farewell dinner, i feel like im going to my own funeral.. very sad in other words ;(

Lots of friends are coming at least so im happy to see them for one last time. I dont know why but im always so bad at saying good bye. Either im crying like a baby and start to be really sentimental. It like all the happy memories flow into my mind at once and when they become to much in my brain the come out like tears instead. The second option is that i dont cry at all and then i just feel really bad that i didnt cry... Yes i think i am complicated.

So this is my last blog insert in Taiwan. I dont want to say that it is the last one ever but i got a feeling that it will take a while before i earned this much money to come back again. I love Kaohsiung and i am proud to call it my fourth home in the world. I will miss the people's extreme kindness, the restaurants (i havent coocked anything for over four months!!), the scooters, the eternal sunshine but most of all the friends i made here.

I love you and will miss you all!
